Protection paused on your device

Let's get it switched back on.

If Lunar Defense says access for your organization has been turned off, or simply that it is paused, you are in the right place. This is something we can look up and act on.

Your device keeps its registration either way. Nothing needs to be reinstalled, re-registered, or entered again, and protection resumes on its own once the account is switched back on.

One thing that speeds this up

On the screen you just came from, tap Copy device info and paste the block into your message. You do not need to know your organization's account, who bought it, or anything about billing. That block tells us which record to look at, which turns a general question into something we can answer straight away.

Using Managed? Include the output of Settings → License → Copy device info. For an activation code, or a question about why the app was deployed, your IT or security provider is the fastest route: they issue the codes and decide who gets a seat. Getting started

How do I run my first sweep?+

Open Lunar Defense and tap Run Security Scan on the home screen to start a sweep. It runs entirely on your device and finishes in seconds, no account or sign-in required.

Do I need to create an account?+

No. You can download the app and run unlimited manual sweeps without an account. A Pro subscription is tied to your Apple ID, so there's still no separate account to manage. If you're using Lunar Defense Managed, there's no account either. Your IT or security provider gives you a one-time activation code, and that's the only setup step.

Which devices and iOS versions are supported?+

Lunar Defense Mobile Security and Lunar Defense Managed both support iPhone on iOS 26 or later and iPad on iPadOS 26 or later. One exception: the phishing checker (Check a Link) runs on-device using Apple Intelligence, so it needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence. Every other feature works on any supported device.

Scans & results

What does a sweep check?+

A sweep runs three families of checks plus a final cross-check: device integrity (whether the operating system has been tampered with, whether unauthorized code is running alongside the app, and verifying your device is genuine with Apple), connection safety (proxies, interception, and impersonation), and a correlation step that weighs everything together. Tap any result to see what it checked and what it found.

My sweep found an issue. What should I do?+

When a sweep finds something, the app gives you a consolidated, ranked to-do list, safety-first steps first, and each step explains why it helps. Work through it top to bottom. If you're unsure how to proceed, email support@lunardefense.co with a description of what you saw and we'll help.

How often should I sweep?+

You can run a manual sweep any time, for free. With Pro, the app sweeps automatically in the background on a schedule and alerts you if something changes, so you don't have to remember.

Subscription & billing

Applies to Lunar Defense Mobile Security. Managed has no in-app purchases. It's licensed through your IT or security provider instead. See Your license below.

Manage or cancel your subscription

Pro subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and managed in iOS Settings:

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Select Lunar Defense, then change your plan or tap Cancel Subscription.

You'll keep Pro until the end of your current billing period.

How much does Pro cost?+

Pro is $4.99/month or $49.99/year. The yearly plan includes a 3-day free trial. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled.

How does the free trial work?+

The yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. You won't be charged if you cancel before the trial ends. If you don't cancel, the subscription begins automatically and your Apple ID is charged.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?+

Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, open the app, and tap Restore Purchases in Settings. Your Pro access will be reinstated.

Can I get a refund?+

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and request a refund for Lunar Defense. If you need help, email us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Your license

Applies to Lunar Defense Managed, deployed by your IT or security provider.

How do I activate Lunar Defense Managed?+

Your IT or security provider gives you an activation code. Enter it when the app asks. Until you do, the app stays inert. Everything unlocks once it activates, and there's nothing to buy in the app.

I don't have a code, or my code was rejected.+

Activation codes come from your IT or security provider, not from us. They hold the license and decide who gets a seat, so contact them first. If they need our help, they can reach us at support@lunardefense.co. The Copy device info button on the activation screen gives them the details we'd need to look into it.

The app says my license is no longer active.+

Two common causes: the device has been offline for more than three weeks, or your provider released your seat. Reconnect to the internet and reopen the app. If the license is still valid it renews itself silently. If it doesn't come back, contact your provider.

Does it work without a connection?+

Yes. Your license is verified on your own device every time the app launches, with no network involved, so it keeps working for up to three weeks offline.

Does Managed cost me anything?+

There's nothing to buy in the app: no in-app purchases, no subscription, and no paywalled features. Automatic background scanning and alerts are all included. Your IT or security provider holds the license, so whether Managed shows up in what you pay them is between you and them. Ask them if you're not sure.

Where do I see my license details?+

Settings → License shows your status, valid-through date, provider, seat, and installation ID. Copy device info puts a short summary on your clipboard for a support call.

The app says our trial has ended.+

Protection is paused, but nothing has been lost. Your device stays registered and there is no code to enter again. The moment your organization starts a subscription, Lunar Defense turns itself back on here automatically. Whoever manages IT or security for your organization can pick things up from our trial page.

The app says access has been turned off, or is paused.+

This one is on our side rather than your provider's, so contact us directly and we'll look it up. Your device keeps its registration and access resumes on its own once the account is switched back on. Start here, and bring the Copy device info block if you can.

Privacy & data

Do my scan results ever leave my device?+

No. The analysis runs on your device and your results stay there. The app makes only a few network connections: verifying your device is genuine with Apple, checking that the connection to us isn't being intercepted, push notifications for background scans, and payments through Apple. None of them carry your scan results or personal information. The one exception is one you control: if you tap Get help, the app drafts an email containing your findings, and nothing is sent until you read it and send it yourself. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What data does Lunar Defense collect?+

The app is built to minimize data collection: no account, no analytics SDKs, no trackers, no advertising. Two things worth knowing up front: the camera is used only while the QR scanner is open on screen, and the app asks for location permission solely because iOS will not reveal whether your Wi-Fi is encrypted unless it holds that permission. It never reads your location. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

My provider deployed Managed on my device. What can they see?+

They can see that your seat exists, when it activated and last renewed, and any label they typed themselves. They cannot see your scan results, your security record, or anything about how you use your device. There is no dashboard, no feed, and no export. A technician sees your record only if you open the technician view on your own device during a support call, and doing so writes a permanent entry into that record. Full detail in our Privacy Policy for Managed.
